Global competition creates and protects jobs. But it must be fair.President von der Leyen unveiled bold steps to ensure fair play, free and safe trade at #SOTEU:- We launched an anti-subsidy investigation into electric vehicles from China, whose prices are kept artificially low.- From ๐ฏ๐ต to ๐บ๐ธ, we will work with our partners to cut our reliance on single suppliers for critical materials.- By year's end, we should finalise trade agreements with ๐ฆ๐บ, ๐ฒ๐ฝ, and Mercosur โ ๐ฎ๐ณ and ๐ฎ๐ฉ coming next.#EU

@EU_Commission we call that protectionism. Making electric cars unaffordable is not a good look.

@EU_Commission prices from China and from developing countries are lower on many products, simply because they pay less for salary. This move instead is a way to allow our technology to grow, something we should have done with the US too.Let's at least call things by their name.Let's start limiting trade with entities that don't respect human and worker rights, including anti-union US companies.

@EU_Commission QUESTION: I'm in favour of a lot of things the EU do, I like it a lot, really. There's also one thing I do not agree with, that's the influence of the US on the EU (imo after looking at a lot of things they've done I don't see them as trustful)Is there any way I can act -apart from voting- to give my voice a place in the EU decision making on this subject?
