Started watching that darn food network again and they were making Thanksgiving stuff (streamed it)…so it made me ALSO want to follow along and make stuff…So I made the great pie! (it’s just apple)P.S. My crust ACTUALLY turned out more than perfect this time!!! WOW! Cause it NEVER does 😁😁😁

@apple_dumplin what’s your secret to the crust? I took time off baking when we moved here and I am not getting my groove back for pie crusts at all.

@cake This was maybe he second time I’ve made a good pie crust…that said, you probably already know anything I have to say on the topic… but here goes 😄I followed the recipe from my better homes cookbook for the 9” pie ( I also viewed 2’other books) they were pretty close, so I went with Better Homes version. They ALL called for shortening, but because my husband is adamantly against shortening, I used 10 2/3T of real butter (very cold). I also used actual ice water, and a pastry knife.

@cake That’s all I did differently than I usually do…but it seemed to work. My crust is usually too dry and breaks when rolling it even though I added the correct amount of water in the past.

@apple_dumplin The only food network shows I watch are competition-y ones. Guy's Grocery games, Restaurant Impossible.There is delicious good I want to eat but it's cut up with Guy bowling with a melon or Robert Irvine hitting things with a sledgehammer.I find that takes me out of it enough that I don't fall head first in to a pie twice a week.

@DameTrish I do. But I used a pastry knife this time and then my hands. I kinda like digging in with my hands a lot of the time.
