@redwhitebluedude The article makes an interesting point that EV have fewer parts, and so if damaged, the replacements are going to be expensive. There aren't a lot of aftermarket parts, for example.A few months ago, though, I had to replace the windshield on my Toyota, and due to the tech features it has (a small heads up display, a forward-facing camera, and a rain sensor for the automatic wipers) the factory glass is more expensive than an ordinary windshield.

Aftermarket glass is available, but Toyota's recommendation is that the tech features be recalibrated with the new windshield, whether you opt for factory glass or not. (For example, the automated high beams seemed to come on at night more often with the aftermarket glass until I got them recalibrated.)

Tesla makes its own glass (especially because of features like the Model 3's glass roof). You're pretty much stuck with buying the factory parts, if repairs are necessary.

@JesusIsLord Not so much.
