A huge chunk of my programming work is in the Node ecosystem, or at least using itAnd I'm really not a fan of new tools popping up all the time.I'm rather taking a hit in compile/package installation speeds instead of using non-backwards compatible runtimes etc.Talking about Bun/Node here.

Things obviously need money and all that jazz, but I'm not particularly a fan of having to read about a new NodeJS runtime being VC-funded.There's probably enough tooling I use that is, but not actual runtimes. That means they will need to pull out some kind of business model, and development tooling trying to get money from it's users is not a sucessful move most of the times.

People pay for IDEs for sure (and so do I)but if you have a runtime and try to sell a "deploy your app easily" service at the side and included in your CLI? I doubt people will use that.Especially since the Node world is oversaturated in that regard already. Vercel, Netlify, and whatever else there is.

the "deploy" service is just an assumption, but that's really the most likely service they will offer in the future, in regards to Bun trying to make ends meet.

@pixel A lot of these companies are decent companies but they aren't really VC style 10-100x investments as going concerns. I think the VC angle is essentially building out services enough to sell them to Google or Microsoft as additions to their cloud services to compete with AWS. Users clearly was to be put as technologically close to a solution as possible but it is difficult for Google to reinvest in GAE given that GAE already is serviceable. They bigger bets to make with their cash for now.
