testing #LinuxMint #LMDE 6..this is so good they should just go ahead and drop using #Ubuntu as the base

@e33io Are there any drawbacks compared to mainline Mint?

@Yeekasoose no drawbacks that i can see.. ..mainline Mint might have better Nvidia drivers, but i have an AMD card so i can't speak to that aspect

@e33io @Yeekasoose But won't sw (deb) generally be of older release versions in LMDE than in LinuxMint, especially the farther away we come from this Debian release date?

@hehemrin @Yeekasoose yes, but that's where Flatpak comes in handy for specific apps you need the latest version of.. ..i'm not a power-user, so older software works fine for my use-case

@hehemrin @Yeekasoose ..plus, i still prefer to use vanilla debian (stable) with i3wm on my primary workstation, so there might be some other aspects of LinuxMint and the Cinnamon DE that i'm missing update-wise, etc.

@e33io @Yeekasoose Yes, I recall you are mostly fine with older sw. It is said (I am not really that competent) that Flatpaks are better when it comes to security, as example. I use a few FlatPaks and a few AppImagages, but default I prefer deb especially from the repository. So although I often can live with older versions, it is a drawback that deb repository generally is older. And I agree that FlatPak is a way to manage that drawback. I'll upgrade to LMDE 6 on a test machine when it is out!

@hehemrin @e33io Yeah, I think I'll give it a shot on a VM first too.
