It really is remarkable that Ukraine managed to destroy two warships and a shipyard in today’s attack. It really shows why it does make sense for western countries to provide long-range missiles. Hopefully U.S. and Germany will soon follow the examples from UK and France. As a Scandinavian I also cannot help but appreciate the fact that the destroyed landing ship was from the Russian Baltic Fleet. I have escorted this ship through Danish waters several times.

@anderspuck Let’s hope that the success of the mission and the stunning evidence of how helpful this weapon is for Ukraine’s victory, is actually part of the decision-making process. But I fear that there are other reasons for the foot-dragging that can’t be overcome by this success and it sickens me to think about it. I hope I’m wrong and that they’ll be sent asap.

@anderspuck we often hear the argument: we can’t send xyz to Ukraine because we need these ourselves to protect us from threats. True, keeping them allows us to counter a threat.Sending those weapons to Ukraine *reduces* the threat, and 2 destroyed russian war ships is a fine example of that!

@anderspuck I think the only non-ghoulish thing this should inspire is a quicker resolution leading to a cease fire. They're paying a terrible human price.

@jdst258 I think it's important that we don't talk about peace as if it were actually an option for Ukraine at this point. It's not, and we have to face the reality that the war will continue whether we like it or not.
