@Jain @pixel as for android?- insanity with manufacturers and ROM- you can't deal without Google (unless you have grapheneos)- no official ROM look the same, each vendor has its custom stuff- adware adware adware (extremely true on Xiaomi when I had one)- want to have cardav/caldav? install app for this (present in iOS system)- unlock your bootloader, if you can, and add root, to reduce security- overall security is low- usually no updates after 2 year- if you don't have Google, experience usually sucks hard (need alternative for everything, built-in Apple works with non Apple storage (but with fewer functionalities))- settings are all over the place, that's a maze- settings complexity go exponential with android version (with sometimes duplicates)there are prob other reasons, but don't remember

@duponin @Jain @pixel i agree with these statements, but at the same time, not supporting apple counters all of themthe normalisation of a one and only apple controlled repo, that imposes a 30% tax on all software as well as other arbitrary rules, is a detriment for everyone's technology

@duponin if you dont mind...usually custom roms don't include google shit and it has to be installed afterwards, most of the time there are also precautions similar to grapheneos. Manufacturers are awful, yes... but it became better, manufacturers got tired of their customizations and they are using way less of them now... but most or even nearly all of them are bad except google/pixel since it is the source of all the code... i dont see any issues with unlocking bootloaders (did myself), add root (didnt tho), and locking it again (which i also did), i cant point out a way in which that should reduce security, on the contrary, i claim my phone is safer than before. not sure about the overall security, but would value this equal since both systems have their zero days and if one gets no updates after 2 years then its a bad manufacturer. Custom ROMs usually have non google alternatives for everything as default. I guess a default bloated Android has a Settings hell but except the keyboard settings which are kinda confusing, everything seems clear to me...Years ago, i guess around idk 8-10 years or so, i had an Iphone myself and changed to Android at some point. The main critic i had was that Android had a lack of a nice default music player. Thats probably the one feature i miss at most, even tho since Phones dont have a jack anymore i stopped listening that much music on my phone

@NeonPurpleStar @Jain @duponin I haven't really seen much on an indication running iOS 17, but I wonder what they will do about the Digital Markets Act in the EU, which forces them to allow sideloading of apps.Knowing Apple, they might allow it (without making a fuzz about it publicly) but have the sideloaded apps be kneecapped to the max, because no proper signing or they are not delivered through the store.
