Wanted to give another try to my reading list in Org-mode.But, I remember why I have stopped last time: I cannot decide how do I manage book series with multiple volumes ?1 headline per volume or one per series ?If 1 per series, how track volume progression or total ?If 1 per volume, do I create 1 headline to group them ? How about redundant data ? How about column view when you have a mix of 2 and 3 level representation plus notes inside book headline ?Any advice ?#OrgMode #Emacs

@fox I'd suggest to start out as simple as possible, you can always rearrange things later. For example for my boardgames-of-interest list I use a simple org-mode table, one row for each game and about 5 fields each with the stuff I most care about when I consult the list. One of these is a free-form "notes" field for everything else and links to other notes or web stuff when needed.

@fox There can be many approaches. I personally use outline structure like* <Book series name> :REFILE:** TODO Book 1 :book:** TODO Book 2 :book:...Example: https://0x0.st/HfL_.txt

@fox May you provide an example of "volumes" you are referring to? For me, volumes and series are two ways to group related books. I and handle both as in my example with book series.

@fox Here is an example of book series consisting of 20 books: https://0x0.st/HfYI.txt I still keep each book separately to retain the link and some metadata about reading it. If you don't care about separate metadata, you can, for example, create a checklist of volumes under a single heading for the comics. Or even no checklist, -just a short note about the volume you are currently reading.
