       1/xToday was the Austin-大分 sister city Japanese festival! I bought tickets to go with my husband a month ago which is good because they were sold out since last Monday. First things first, I got to remind myself how to tie an obi because I wore my yukata (pic attached). The majority of the festival was inside a small convention center which is probably for the best since it was 11AM-4PM in 38C weather 💀

       I got gifts for gf and the kids. The two youngest got 鯉のぼりto play with and the oldest got a Demon Slayer poster. For my gf, a daffodil hairpin since she really likes daffodils. I also got a ヨーヨーつりfor myself that matches my yukata. There was a stall where they were making kanji names for people and then writing them in calligraphy. I'm embarrassed to say that I totally choked and forgot the kanji for my own name 😅 I guess I haven't written it out in a while.

       Unfortunately, I get dizzy in crowds and it was VERY crowded. There also weren't any open places to sit for me to cool down either. There was a small zen garden outside and I tried that too but...38C is still brutal. Oh, I forgot to mention but I'm still not great with the yukata so I was wearing a very light shirt and shorts underneath it. The wind kept blowing it open so that was the right decision.

       Anyways we had to leave early because I was getting too lightheaded. On the way out, I ran into a classmate from high school. We were both in the Japanese Pop Culture Club together! I didn't recognize her at all because she totally changed her hairstyle but she recognized me. She was wearing a very cute pink yukata and is apparently a co-chair of the sister city committee.
