       My son in law, a Green Beret, was flying home yest from a 5 mo deployment oversees. Had layover in Paris last night, arrived NYC this am. My dau was to pick him up 4p today in Raleigh, only to learn all NY flights cancelled due to weather. He decided to rent car. No avail rentals. He came upon the only rental co that had no line. He asked, ru out of cars or are you wildly expensive? $900 for one day. He said sign me up. Is it just me, or is that outrageous? And no military discount.

       @PilgrimsLanded One way rentals can be ridiculously expensive. They lose the car in a hot rental market and it winds up where they may not need more cars.I rented a car in Florida for a week last month. ~$560 total, but pick up and drop off were the same location.

       @PilgrimsLanded Probably the government rate, which is what we are only allowed to take are sometimes much more than a discount rate. One-way rentals are always expensive. Not to worry, he can file the expense on his travel voucher. Ideally, he used his USG Credit Card for the purchase. IMO, International travel is drudgery on the best of days. Welcome home to the lad.

       @RangerJohn Belated thanks for your thoughtful reply! Though I didn’t ask re: USG Credit Card, I do believe it was covered. He got himself home (500 mile jet lagged drive), which was the important thing.
