       @sj I've been becoming more suspicious of "unverifiable" engagement metrics such as likes, boosts / shares and followers since so many of them seem to be bot-driven. But I'm surprised to see the difference in comments - I would have thought that Masto would be higher.

       @Lee_Holmes I think only a very small fraction of reposts/likes are bots. Bots tend to not match the bell curve time-wise and be more random in content or spammy. I try to report/block ASAP. For example, all but one of the reposts on the latest post was from accounts that explicitly mention computer security interest in their bio's, and most of them I recognize if not follow. Same with the likes (random sample below). Bots are generic template or AI garbage or incoherent or spam links.
