       @todayilearned Oh, yeah.  I remember going to the drugstore with my dad when the TV would stop working.  He brought a bag of tubes (valves) and would carefully test each one.  He would eventually find the failure, replace it for a couple of bucks, then we would return home and spend an hour putting each bulb back in the proper socket to restore the magic of television to our home.
