@Okymir nobody thinks of it the right way imo. AI has been around for decades. It's just a hot button topic now because of art generation. And it's too easy to just say it steals everything without knowing anything about how it processes things. Ultimately ai is usless without human input. If we keep shunninh it and pushing it away, more bad people will use it. What we need is knowledge and availability, not fear and anger.

@Okymir Leaving aside all the legal issues, personally I hate it because the process of drawing is what I find appealing about doing art a lot more than the finished product. If I let a machine do it for me I feel I lost big part of what makes art special. That aside, I champion creativity and by definition AI art cannot be creative.

@Okymir I feel like I'm an extreme few in the planet whose stance is neutral about the matter and even find it fun and cool for personal shit more as a tool or a toy, contrast to bad actors that legit weaponise it.I'm more cynical with 'tech bro' culture as a whole for the "do u even futur bro?? NFTs bro!1" mindset, blind corporate executions, cause of death, conspired corruption, even employee lay-offs to some. Excuse my bias.

@Okymir The issue is the data pooling by the AI, in any field, as AI doesn't really create and it needs to mooch off people's hard work and crafts in order to learn. If all AI had contained pools with only data that was consented to be used, then it would be different. Still, regardless of the pooling issue, you have the issue about the way neoliberal capital will use AI: it'll use it to replace workers so it doesn't need to pay fair wages or worry about rights, and this can wreck the economy.

@Okymir When a good part of white collar and tech workers get replaced by AI and can't make a decent living anymore, who will then consume the crap created by the AI? The middle-class are the largest consumers in our society, you can't wreck their income and expect things to keep going well.In due time we'll enter a souless age where all art and entertainment is made by machines, job markets get wrecked left and right, and income inequality will keep rising.

The time to heavily legislate AI is now. Before it's too late. It can not go unchecked at all and most self-respecting countries need to adapt their laws and regulations to it and be stricter.
