I fucking hate podcast companiesI decided to check out Tides of History, since the trailer was pretty cool and I have an interest in both the Roman Empire and the foundation of the modern stateI start listening, but the host makes occasional references to past episodes, even though I was listening to the first one. Then I check the dates between the trailer and the first episode, and I get suspicious...It turns out, the podcast is owned by Wondery. Wondery has decided to lock the first 54 episodes behind "Wondery Plus", which means it's not on any rss feeds. Instead, you're forced to use the Wondery app, Apple Music, Spotify, or Amazon MusicFucking ghouls. I hate this#podcast

@aendarus takes time and effort to put out the content... Maybe the caster's only method of income. Do you not want to support someone you find interesting?

@bryanbrake That's what Patreon is for though. Lots of other podcasts generate income through Patreon, and I'm also fine with them locking bonus content behind a paywall. The issue here is that Wondery has removed core content from the RSS feed, probably because they have exclusivity deals with those platforms. I think exclusivity is bad

@aendarus Patreon is not the easiest to deal with and has restrictions... They've also had issues that made them enemies of some content creators. Perhaps reach out to the creator and send them your post where they'll see it instead of posting it here...
