#emacs Update on my #orgroam issues https://emacs.ch/@oatmeal/110944669082445802 … while asking around on the projects issues tracker, I thought I might as well try running Emacs under strace to see which files were causing a problem. It turned out to be one particular file, which the org parser was struggling with. When I removed it, org-roam’s sync was able to finish successfully. No idea what’s wrong with this file. I can’t open it interactively either. So t he problem is not org-roam’s clearly. Still depending the sync process, which as no way of mitigating such problems, is a problem. If it can’t finish synching I’m left with a crippled system. Emacs blocks or crashes after a while if I leave the process to run, so had to disable the auto-sync behavior. While exploring #denote I find the transition possible, though I’m trying to figure out what to do with alises, which I rely on in org-roam (a way of working with multiple languages in my case), and are not supported in denote as far as I can tell.

@oatmeal I am glad you found the culprit.

@oatmeal Being able to use an alias is such a killer feature when working with different languages (and abbreviations in these languages)! One of the reasons Denote also did not work for me.

@oatmeal you said you could not open it. Not in org, or not at all? I regularly use org-lint on my files. Not sure if it could help you with not being able to open the file at all though

@Xuxxux I can open it as plain text file externally, but in emacs, if org mode is active, it will freeze or crash while trying to read the file. BTW I see many org persist errors flying around regardless, sort of a nuisance, but they seemed harmless… If org lint is using the same parser, I guess it’ll have the same problem. I will copy over the text and check again later. Didn’t have time to expriment as I was just happy getting the syncing part done.

@laotang yes aliases are really great for this purpose.
