there is nothing "inviting" about a $75 pick-up truckhttps://www.thedrive.com/news/rivian-slashes-costs-with-new-in-house-enduro-motor-design

@kgibson I dont know....I drive past the local dealership and see some price tags in the 80s and 90s! When compared to those, 75k looks pretty good!

@macspace i saw 4 of them in parking lot last week - they're getting more popular. People pay $80k for a Ford or Chevy

@kgibson and when that unit dies, I bet you have to replace the whole thing at a cost of $25k

@kgibson By 'People', do you mean anybody that makes less than $150,000 a year? I wouldn't call them people, I'd call them 'rich people', and I don't do what rich people do, since if of course, not rich.I remember having a $525 payment on a jeep for 5 years and I thought that was way out of hand back in 2002. I can't envision getting a loan for an $80k anything that I don't live in full time.

@macspace @kgibson Average truck prices on lots have crept to almost $100k. ICE truck models have higher trim packages to get more money from stimulus ballers, who now can’t get loans to buy the high margin vehicles.

@kgibson have you priced trucks lately? That's about what any other truck costs new.

@shepard yes - and its just as crazy to spend $80-100k on an Escalade, as it is to spend $75k on an 3/4 size pickup truck,

@macspace rich or highly leveraged? Either way, for me, it's a lot of money to spend on a car.

@kgibson oh no disagreement. My newest car is an '03 Suburban and most of my vehicles predate the moon landing
