Facebook now scraping everything everyone does there for their "Generative AI" shit, and I'm SO FUCKING TIRED so here read this and mentally insert "Facebook/Meta" everywhere I mention zoom:https://www.wired.com/story/zoom-became-a-part-of-daily-life-it-needs-to-tell-users-exactly-how-its-using-their-data/

@Wolven so sick of companies seeing if they can sneak this shit past people, have to backtrack and then pat themselves on the back for ‘listening to their customers’

@Wolven fwiw, they changed their ToS the day after the Wired article to state they do not use our data for training AI. (Still, they changed the language only after public pushback)

@BrightFlame oh I know, hence my second to last paragraph:"Regardless of what happens next [link to updated blog], Zoom fumbled hard on this attempt to engage the public and respond to a valid set of user concerns. This should be a lesson for other corporations that are looking to take liberties with their users’ consent: People are paying a lot more attention these days, and they are increasingly willing to work together to push against their lives being mined for data. While raising the alarm or even switching to unfamiliar tools might be a hassle, more and more people are beginning to understand that sometimes that hassle is necessary."

@Wolven I can't find that in fb. Went to their help center and entering "Generative AI Data Subject Rights" doesn't yield anything. Have you found where that form actually resides that we can submit it?

@Wolven zoom and fb aren’t scraping anything like google and openai are, right? They’re just using the data their users are directly giving to them.. I’m actually surprised they let you opt out? They don’t have to right? Not saying this cause it’s good, it sucks. Just want to make sure I’m not missing some mass scraping of other websites fb is doing

@Jdreben The wording at the page indicates a back and forth between 3rd party vendors and "other partners," so genuinely who knows, at this point. Either way, needs to stop.

@Wolven ew. Yeh, I deleted my account in June 2020, it was very invasiveness. Let's just say some very inappropriate ad placements - or possibly overly appropriate as placements, and content served to generate antagonism. Very low quality info generally, too.

@Wolven I wonder if a two step use of this form might be good to use? First ask for data to be corrected, just in case it is used in other places we do not know about. Maybe the information provided will give us more insights on who the third parties are that have access? Then, and then request deletion? #facebook #meta #generativeai
