So I bought like 30 different shaving soaps and a lather brush and the whole deal... Anyway the one I picked today had like tobacoo in it, not the smoke but the fresh leaf. As much as I hate the smell of tobacoo smoke this smells soooo good.Feelin fresh.

@freemo I’m travelling and I’m struggling to find spare safety razors. The normal kind! I can’t stand the whole in one one billion blades type things.

@gpowerf yea im new to safety razors but I dont think I ever saw a safety razor or blade for sale in all my travels. Rarely see them in the USA either. Got all my stuff online... shame really as its hard to see why we ever moved away from these.

@freemo why not use electric shaver/trimmer? I don't need all these soaps.

@freemo economics. By adding an increasing number of useless features to the product you can market to the consumer a product that’s “improving” and thus has an ever increasing price, even if it’s really not improving in any meaningful way.

@gpowerf I guess... the real reason seems to be fear of getting cut.

@Dashtop few reasons... 1) electric razors are messy and you get hair everywhere. Only really works if you do it before a shower or else you are covered with hair2) this one is minor, but razors make the cut hairs sharp. this can sometimes give you hair splinters3) most important, a closer shave4) it helps that you smell so nice when done from soap.

@freemo "tobacco" in wetshaving products often refers to the leaf or flower, which makes it annoying when artisans don't specify which one they are citing.

@freemo yeah, and the really heavy leaf smells are like being trapped in a humidor 😂

@arctangent As far as I can tell the smell doesnt last that long from the shaving cream anyway. I bought some solid cologne to offset that :)

@freemo aftershaves & balms will last longer than soaps, but nothing beats colognes and EdTs

@arctangent i dont like liquid colognes, too chemical.. the solid colognes are usually more natural due to the fact that they arent expecting to be as strong (though last much longer).Im happy to avoid liquid colognes and stick with solid.

@freemo I don't use either, my workplace encourages being "scent-free" and I'm not that into 'em anyway. Just soaps and balms (low to no alcohol) for this guy.

@arctangent Im trying to pick smells that are less scents and more like actual wood smell. Basically only really smells.
