https://twitter.com/APStylebook/status/1669037653348474889?t=n91E4OQulTPxKzhBalne-Q&s=09 @grammargirl I tend to not like name calling, but admit being unclear if terf is a slur or a description. I haven't seen this addressed from a grammar perspective . Any thoughts?

@the_Cornflower Off the top of my head, I'd say it is in line with their typical advice about avoiding terms that can seem subjective or too general. The AP often says to avoid labels and describe a person's specific beliefs or objections. For example, they also say to avoid "climate change denier" and instead to be more specific, such as saying someone doesn't believe human activity contributes to climate change, or they don't believe the climate is actually changing.
