@RacistGoku42069 @toiletpaper The problem with the blue DEW schizo theory is that painting your house blue isn't much help when everything around it is on fire. Blue things aren't immune to fire, if they were fire engines would be blue.I think we have a combination of two factors here.1. fad for painting stuff blue2. photographers using surviving blue things as the focal point of their pictures because "the colour pops" or <insert whatever the correct photofaggotry terms are>

depending on your definition of a demon, that could be apt. the spirit model of disease is common to many cultures, and so it's perfectly correct in that context to personify a type of mass-delusion as being a "demon" or "demonic" due to it's nature of causing widespread [mental] illness and distress. any meme or idea can qualify to the extent it's erroneous. even mainstream religions could be justly characterized in this way. they become especially dangerous when fear and panic enter the mix. the question is, what type of angelic force would be most effective to counter it?as to demons causing blue things not to burn, not ime. but ymmv.

Bit of a tangent, but here's an example of an explicit demon service/ritual from the Chöd tradition originated in the 9-10th century by the Tibetan Buddhist yogini Machig Labdrön, as adapted by Lama Tsultrim Allione in the present day.https://www.lionsroar.com/how-to-practice-feeding-your-demons/

@toiletpaper @Turdicus @RacistGoku42069 I've grown to resent the common depiction of demons and demonic activity as little ugly people. it's not even really a person.

@toiletpaper @goatmeal @Turdicus There was a nice thread on /x/ recently that had some historically accurate accounts of "Where did knowledge of demons come from?" boards.4channel.org/x/thread/35727064As usual, fpbp:>The first written accounts we have are the PGM, the Graeco-Egyptian Magical Papyri, which are scrolls written somewhere between 200B.C. and 300A.D. They were written by professional magicians/wizards/temple priests, and very clearly show the framework of magical technique that continued until today.>From the PGM, we see the mixture of ancient Egyptian, Hellenic and Roman magic/religious practices and the intro of various Gnostic and Jewish ideas/gods/deities into the mix (like IAO).>The continuation/transmission of this knowledge first to the Byzantine Empire then to Spain and Italy and the rest of Europe is well-attested through various grimoires (e.g. Hygromanteia et al.) up until the modern day, including the one you mentioned (which happens to be so popular just because it's the only Crowley stole from Mathers and rushed published).I would argue that Testament of Solomon is an older source for these spirits but provided no framework for understanding or working with them. The concept of malevolent spirits likely dates back much further.

oh definitely! the concept of demons goes back to ancient sumer at least. in sumerian and related languages they were often referred to as lili, lilitu, etc (hence: lilith/lamashtu), and considered responsible for things like infant mortality, sleep paralysis, diseases, pest infestations, etc. irving finkel has a lot of good info on it.https://youtu.be/FOT75GB64Hw
