@mario yes but- permissions could be different- your shell and cat might write in different sizes or do different optimizations or whatever, could matter, probably doesn't- very technically your shell could optimize the "cat >" pattern to reflink

@mario i have no idea what a gi or a cdman is, but i have more copying fun facts!`cat fedora.iso >/dev/sda` is a valid alternative to `dd if=fedora.iso of=/dev/sda`
