@caekislove @monsterislandcolonizer @poastoak @professionalbigot69 Here’s an idea: get a chicken, spatchcock it (youtu.be/Ppa1bxB89vg), oil salt and pepper on the skin, cook it on a tray at 450 for 45 mins, let rest for 5 mins. Eat all the skin since that won’t be crispy tomorrow and as much meat as you want, then get the rest of the meat off the bones and into the fridge in whatever containers. ikea sells good glass tupperware containers. 2 or three days of meat leftovers. Optionally, with the bones and scraps you can throw those in a slow/pressure cooker with water and cook them overnight to make stock for soup tomorrow. Just strain it whenever you’re free the next day. That won’t take you 2 hours or cost much plus you end up with multiple days of leftovers. Can just microwave a potato and some vegetable to make it a meal.

Everyone else has to acquiesce to the cook's preferences.For anyone inexperienced at cooking, watch some videos on how to do the basic things of cooking and any techniques that are unfamiliar, and then go to rural antique shops and search through old cookbooks for recipes that sound good. Those books are often dirt cheap but retain old-time recipes that you'll not find again.Once you know what the recipe terms mean, you'll be able to make almost anything. You'll screw things up and make mistakes, which just means you are learning something that takes skill and is worth learning. Give it time and you'll improve.

There's plenty of websites that have a backlog of recipes and offer new ones in their newsletters. I do enjoy older recipes from time to time, but every once in awhile is fine by me. Plus it can be hard to find some of the ingredients the older recipes call for since they've fallen out of fashion or they've gotten incredibly expensive since then.

It's interesting to look through and see what pops out. Each book may only have a couple interesting offerings, but you could even take a photo of the recipe if there is only 1 in a particular book.
