The College of DuPage satellite images show *something* traversing the United States in the middle of the night. It shows up on the Visible (Red) image as a bright light. I first noticed it on the images last week, and this week, it shows up two nights in a row.

Notice how immediately above the light, there is a black box, as if something has been removed or not recorded by the satelite image.Additional info: There is a black box removal of two full images full image at 26Aug23 23:00 and 23:10 UTC.The bright light shows up in frames 27Aug23 04:40:21, 04:50:23, and 05:00:25 UTC. (These are the 3 images I shared.) It is visible in the image before and after these 3 images, showing that it is traversing from someplace north of the US.

In completely unrelated news, there was some weird sound outside our home around 3:00 a.m. last night. I wondered if it was related to any satellite image strangeness, but it seems unrelated as far as times go.But seeing these satellite-bright-light-beams again this week -- for two nights in a row on the images -- I thought I'd take screenshots and share here FWIW.And if you've heard any weird sounds outside in the middle of the night, let's swap stories.

This is the website: https://weather.cod.edu/satrad/?parms=global-northamerica-02-200-0-100-1&checked=map&colorbar=undefinedParameters can be changed once you get there. If you choose to spend time there, let's exchange stories, too.

@gloriaoils weird. I have no idea what that is. Do you have an idea of what it might be?

@LoveAlmonds I can only speculate. I've heard no one else discuss it yet. Maybe if more people discover it, more will come out about it.

@gloriaoilsThat's spooky! Alaska (HARP) is north! Canada? What could possibly make a light that large and that bright?

@SkatyG That is certainly one train of thought - HAARP.I don't know if the light is visible on the ground (I haven't seen it), or if it only shows up as "light" on the satellite images.

@SkatyG This "light" smashes into the west side of Africa right at sunrise. My son thinks it's some sort of shock-wave originating in the Southern Hemisphere (Antarctia?). It crosses the US between the time of the going down of the sun, to sunrise, reappearing at the same time the next night. (This weekend, both Friday and Saturday nights.)I wonder how long this has been happening. I saw it last weekend for only one night, but didn't check it all week.

@gloriaoilsHaha, one of my first thoughts was north pole, then south pole, then if it were coming from south, Antarctica! What could it be?

@gloriaoilsMost of the ones I've seen have been in compilations. I haven't actually ever looked for them specifically. I'll look!
