sincere question to communists out there: why bother at this point? the world is ending. the time to do something is passing us by rapidly and the existing structures in place prevent meaningful change from happening that could buy us even a modicum of time. for the fantasy of revolution, there is no potential anywhere. the neo-liberal order has carefully stomped out all meaningful and powerful radical movements (save for fascist ones as a means of further bullying progressive change back into a safer, more easily manageable, incremental corner). what's the point in believing in anything anymore? it's over. our time is done. do whatever you can to survive if you like, but the sands in the hourglass are all but run out on those lacking the means to protect themselves from the oncoming apocalypse.

@lydiaposting because unconditional, total doom is anything but a sure bet. people survive apocalypses, and apocalypses can be averted or minimized. maybe that's not the case here, for the first time in human history. but if that's true, you're no better off not trying; attempting to create something beautiful is not a bad use of one's time even if it's doomed. and if it's not true, and life will go on in some capacity, and human societies will continue to exist, the concept of destroying the stewardship of capital is still alive and still attainable. if no one tries for it, we're as doomed as we would be if there was no opportunity, but if we do try for it, now we have a chance. this is the only scenario in which one ever has a chance–you're doomed in every other outcome—so to spend some effort acting in the only way which can ever, in any timeline, create that chance is justified

@lydiaposting Less a communist in this sense than some kind of a post civ nihilist, but the bare act of making and taking part in temporary, reproducing blips of light in the darkness is itself increasing, on wholly different terms than is qualified by any world economic political order (which is itself not as stable or homogenous or non moving as it pretends to be.) Scale, to me is at the crux, and vulnerable self reliance, deliberate interdependence and versatility are features of the way forward wherever not wholly and effectively prohibited (and also where those features are). Its all for the sake of that blip of light, for each moment of satisfaction or microscopic victory or endurance or growth.There’s no alternative. There’s also more to say.

@lydiaposting there are patterns no one else will see, and projects no one else will undertake. "politics" has been entirely captured and all discourse within the zone is polluted, but there is a shell of what politics *should* be, which you can fashion and wield through various local and general semiotic materials. the strength of capital is that it does not have a single failure point (it is resilient in fact *because* it is full of holes), yet the fabric of it is soft and it can only defend itself using pathetic humans. whenever i see a cop i laugh because as threats they're hilariously simple compared to everything else. there is some crazy ass technology right now that hasn't been fully regulated and territorialized. demons are real and they walk the earth with their unnatural gaits and sorrowful leers and burned eye sockets and i don't expect to really get anywhere on my own but there is probably another demon that can.

@lydiaposting World is always ending from the individual standpoint. There is no solace for mortality, let alone mortality of whole humanity. Ideas stand on their own power, independent of historical contigency of us dying before revolution or not. or all of humanity dying the same way. If we are gonna be free, that's communism. We may most likely fail, but if this was a dice roll, given an infinite amount of time, freedom would only come with communism. So, i prefer dying while looking and aiming towards freedom, best i can do.
