So I tried playing Genshin Impact. Game looks nice and has a lot of interesting mechanics but for whatever reason it just doesn't click for me. Is this the sort of game you have to put a ton of hours into before you get hooked? It's weird, I should like it but it's just kinda meh when I play it.

@Jim Playing it free I assume? It'll take a lot of hours for it to click at this point because of the gacha garbage. Like with all of gachadom, the game starts out great for whales and frees alike until 1-2 years in. I know they have a character and weapon gacha now that can sap the fun unless you grind out summoning mats (dailies, weeklies, monthlies). The few days I played it when it first released was fun but not enough to keep me hooked.

@Jim I remember being really annoyed about the constant bombardment of advertisements about "Genshin Butt-packed". Never was interested. As the first comment said, it sort of looked like a Zelda rip-off.I cannot stand Zelda anymore, after "Breath of the Boring, and Grinding". They really fucked up the whole thing about it, to where that anything that looks and plays similar would just be a shittier knock-off."Lufia 2"... Try it. Its a great, over-looked Zelda knock-off. Which wasnt easy to do.

@Jim it was fine initially when you're given enough stuff to do in the early game without restrictions, once the mobile energy mechanics kick in i got repulsed by it quick

@AustimWarrior @Jim @aleator While I like Lufia 1, especially for the plot twist at the end, you don't know what you're missing if you skip Lufia 2 thinking they're at all comparable.

@Jim Been playing since its launched. The best parts by far are exploration since every nation has its unique stuff about it and collecting virtual barbie waifus. Combat takes secondary place since it is a gacha, and it does have a bunch of shitty an annoying mechanics like RNG on artifacts that I can't be bothered to care about because of how brain numbing it is farming to get good rolls on your stuff. Story is decent and there's a shit ton of lore that I can't even be bothered to go through but damn do the characters like to go on ramblings all the time which is a common complaint. Really the exploration and seeing cool stuff is the best about it

@Jim probably? that might be most gacha games tho.i enjoyed watching this streamer i was friends with play the genshin closed beta back in the day, but i never played it myself.only "gacha" game i ever got into was Madden ultimate team. Too bad the game sucks so much now that there's a 3 second delay when you move the sticks on your controller... i'd probably still play it.
