@ParadeGrotesque my apologies. So I can’t suggest that people get an app that I have no connection to that comes free with a library card? And I can’t suggest that people watch my film for free? Obviously I don’t benefit from that either.

@GunnerGale Hello,You mention a free library card, which is true, but the rest of your post reads more like an advertisement for an app that offers &quot;free&quot; movie streaming.We get that type of advertisement all the time, and, to be honest, it is usually for services that are piracy. This can be a liability for SDF, since we could be accused of promoting that type of services.You can edit your post at any time, or even delete it, but, as I said, I am OK with it since you are a new user

@ParadeGrotesque And how do I leave this platform/delete my account as I don’t think it’s for me? If it is against protocol to help people get a free public library card that enables them to watch films for free on an app I have no connection to, then I need to leave.

@Bigbeaks What I am trying to point out is this:1. Moderators have absolutely no way to verify a person&#39;s identity.2. We get people all the time pretending to be X, Y, or Z who then reveals they are not who they pretend to be.3. The wording of the original post was ambiguous enough that it could be understood to be promoting movie piracy.4. @thetechtutor @GunnerGale I am sorry, but the original message was not clear at all.You need to understand that we have a lot of accounts pretending to be someone famous, who are then going to spam the local timeline with dubious &quot;offers&quot; when it is not outright scams.By the time I realized my mistake, I was already blocked by the original poster, which prevented me from explaining this misunderstanding.We are all unpaid volunteers here, and moderation is often a difficult balancing act.

@ParadeGrotesque @GunnerGale - Well… fuck. And now it looks like I’ve piled on. Not my intention. As a SysAdmin, I get monitoring &amp; admining different accounts. I didn’t know you were dealing with an influx of fake accounts.Maybe there is standardized messaging that you and your team can use in the future to avoid confusion? I’ve taken advantage of that approach at a variety of different employers, and usually with solid results.Lemme know if I can help.

@thetechtutor There is no &quot;messaging&quot; that we can use. SDF, as an instance, has fairly good rules in place already, and the moderation team does a good job blocking fake accounts and scammers before they are allowed on the server.As I have said, &#39;GunnerGale&#39; blocked me before I could explain. More power to her.
