Hey @larsbrinkhoff I have a question about #EmacsWikipedia credits Guy Steele and David Moon as the original authors of TECO Emacs, but in Stallman's biography there's a quote from Steele that he only did like 0.0001% of work and the rest was done by Stallman. My first question is: what was the distinctive feature of Emacs? Was it the documentation system? I also read that Steele's work was about gathering and documenting various TECO extensions written by MIT hackers. Is there some more specific information available somewhere?

@PaniczGodek @larsbrinkhoff On the subject, you may want to read this article: https://web.archive.org/web/20110719154038/http://danweinreb.org/blog/rebuttal-to-stallmans-story-about-the-formation-of-symbolics-and-lmi.It matches what I've read in other places, both for the Symbolics part and the Emacs part.

@galdor @PaniczGodek Right, the exact events and who did what, is a matter of (somewhat vague) recollections. I think everyone agrees Stallman did most of the development and maintenance once Emacs got off the ground.

@galdor @PaniczGodek @larsbrinkhoff Looking at the list of Symbolics people at the bottom of the article, makes me very envious, it must have been so cool to work there.
