San Diego has escalated the war on homeless people by arresting people caught sleeping outside: https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2023/aug/17/san-diego-arrest-unhoused-homeless-crisis However, the city offers them no alternative. Evidently this is an excuse for harshness against a scapegoat.

@rms @dibi58 This makes me unbelievably angry. When the cost of housing has skyrocketed to the point where, in many cities, a full-time job is not enough to afford it, what's a person to do?

@rms @dibi58 Furthermore, this is technically criminalizing a status which is expressly forbidden by the US Constitution. Yet the government manages to get around that.
