Andy telling it like it is.Reporter: You're the first person ever to win two Olympic tennis gold medals. That's an extraordinary feat, isn't it?Andy Murray: I think Venus and Serena have won about four each.#misogyny #sexism #Patriarchy

@chargrille John Inverdale, of BBC and ITV.'While participating in the Rio Olympics in 2016, Murray was interviewed by broadcaster John Inverdale who congratulated the tennis player on becoming “the first person ever to win two Olympic tennis gold medals”.Murray promptly corrected Inverdale with regards to his statement, pointing out that Serena and Venus Williams had both achieved the feat before him.“I think Venus and Serena have won about four each,” he said.'https://www.independent.co.uk/life-style/women/andy-murray-wimbledon-2019-feminist-moments-equal-pay-sexism-women-serena-williams-a8996971.html

@ned How embarrassing for him. And how embarrassing for @BBCWorld.The higher your % of white male reporters, the more biased your coverage will be.Edit: Oh wow. This is the same misogynist reporter who denigrated a Wimbledon champion's looks after she won the women's title. BBC still pays him, one of the richest & most sexist journalists in the UK, to be one of its primary #Wimbledon commentators."Insensitive," BBC? No. This is raving sexism. Grow up.https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2013/jul/06/john-inverdale-marion-bartoli

@chargrille @ned @BBCWorld When that reporter says "person," he means "real person", i.e white male person, not some black female person playing in the B league, by which he means the girls' team. His comments about Marion Bartoli are beyond disgusting for a professional sports reporter and the Beeb should have sacked him..

@Ing_2016 @ned Andy Murray sets reporters straight every time they ask questions like this. Unfortunately I think he is the only one.

@ned I've seen this clip maybe a dozen times and while I'm not terribly familiar with tennis, nor him in particular, I loved him for what he said. I'm noticing more and more men making sure they are not centering themselves in their area of expertise/fame, not shadowing out the women who are just as accomplished, if not more. I'm also noticing those who do the opposite and I refuse to partake of, or respect, their work. I think you can be excellent AND be a human. The Queen Mary (or any other ocean liner) doth turn a smidge more.
