The RICO laws are deeply flawed, and civil libertarians have been decrying prosecutorial abuses for decades. So why is everyone cheering on the Georgia prosecutions so ardently? (Yes, rhetorical question.)Trump should die in prison, and he obviously committed a host of crimes. Is this the right way to nail him? I have questions...

@dangillmor To me it sounds like it works - and how many times has Trump been likened to a mafia boss, with the same types of behaviors & activities? Trump has been the slippery center of what seems clearly a criminal enterprise, e.g. a number of people working toward common criminal goals. https://www.ajc.com/politics/what-to-know-about-georgias-rico-law/3Y2PBKLHWFDMLKYFEURTHLBVZY/

@dangillmor Sure, but why of all things should the prosecution of a thoroughly deserving white-collar white criminal be the event that causes us to re-evaluate these laws?If we want to re-evaluate RICO, let’s at least do it to the benefit of someone more deserving of clemency.

@dangillmor This is a very interesting point. To be honest I haven’t heard anything about the issues with RICO laws before, and I will have to look into them. Are there any sources/individuals I should look at on this that you could recommend?
