I still have hope for America, but I don't anticipate any meaningful improvement for at least another decade or two.The sitting supreme court is the only thing going for us federally, and it's hard to support a branch of government unaccountable to their actions with zero capacity to be checked by other branches.I refuse to become a porn-sick doomer like the generation that proceeded mine, but damned if it isn't hard to stay positive.

I don't know about the rest of the country, but I'm not interested in a particular candidate, rather congressional candidates who recognize the sick system for what it is and want to reduce spending, cut bureaucrats, and apply limits to themselves (congress).I agree that many people hold out hope for "the next president will fix it"; that has never made sense to me.Responsible congress, the power to cut the purse is what's needed.

@adam I agree that local political involvement trumps federal politics, but the local politicians have sold out to the state, and the state has sold out to the feds. All the money flows up.I think of it like fighting a bear. Yeah, you can try to damage the claws, break it's leg. But at some point those big jaws are going to latch onto your neck and by then it's too late.see: Department of Education, ATF, FBI, CIA, etc, etc.Metaphorically, best to aim for the head. @adam @eriner Yeah I'd stay start and fight local for sure. Protect your home turf, then county, then maybe expand to state. For instance I want a law in our state that prohibits abolishing physical currency and it's retail use. I wish Tennesse would bring back its old local currency, and we could back that with real assets too and be shielded some from economic destruction, but gotta start somewhere. I joined Moms for Liberty and saw them make a huge impact on the last school board election. . .the new members M4L shepherded are making the best kind of trouble.Now I am focused on helping my friend @mikegastin win a local City Council spot (Nov 7 election). He just registered to run about 10 days ago, so it's all very new, but his vision gives me hope. As Mike says, the CC is where the rubber meets the road.

I thought city council was too small, but the truth is it's where it all happens: masking abuse, businesses shut down, BLM riots, a blind eye to crime, etc. City Council, ftw. If you win a seat on city council, you'll discover that nearly all of your funding comes from the state (with strings). If you reject that, you'll be blamed for the devolution of your city and be tossed on reelection. If you somehow manage to convince the other members (and your constituents) that it's in their best interest to reject the money, the county employees whose salaries you'll cut will sabotage you.
