Alright Fediverse, I'm kind of losing my mind with this. The Macbook I brought home runs Linux fine, except the damn WiFi. I haven't had to deal with this in years and am rusty. It's a broadcomm BCM4331 chip. I am at a loss, can anyone point me in a right direction on how to get the correct drivers installed in Fedora?#AskFedi #FOSS

@Mundon@fosstodon.org Try the broadcom-wl driver? Look in dmesg and see if the kernel is complaining about missing firmware.

@Mundon> can anyone point me in a right direction on how to get the correct drivers installed in Fedora?I'm guessing that WiFi chips require nonfree firmware to work. Also that Fedora makes installing proprietary software hard, to protect people from doing it inadvertently. When I hit this problem with Trisquel, I change distros (usually to LMDE). Is there another Fedora family distro you could use, that's more nonchalant about shipping any nonfree components needed to make hardware work?
