Muting instead of blocking makes sense most of the time, but why take away something that is useful some of the time if it takes more resources to get rid of it than to leave it. It must be a problem for him or the service. What would that be? Are advertisers complaining about being blocked? Does he just hate being blocked? He can't think it creates an unnecessarily negative environment after all the assholery he's supportive of. Just weird.

@wjmaggos It is weird and all of it, the only explanation is that his goal was to destroy it as a source of information and to rebrand it as a source of disinformation. Whomever bankrolled it for him - The Saudis - are likely ok with that. my 2 cents

@wjmaggos His whole purpose in buying Twitter was to destroy its utility as an organizing platform for progressives. By killing blocking, he leaves many of its most vulnerable users (who incline progressive politically) vulnerable to vile abuse from right-wing scum in the hopes that those users will leave.
