       So… When I said that ceding epistemic authority and determinacy to GPTs and other "AI" was going to eventually get people killed and that shitty "AI Overlord Apocalypse" scenario were by no means necessary when the automation, acceleration, and exacerbation of very human biases and failures would do just fine?        @Wolven I mean, yet another good reason not to buy things off Amazon. There are many, many good reasons, like worker exploitation/cruelty and union busting activities, so the heft of those reasons are getting pretty weighty.

       @Wolven I wasn’t thinking about this specific scenario, I was thinking about how less sophisticated algorithms have already been used at scale to automate and exacerbate biased decision making in life-altering use cases like determining eligibility for health insurance, mortgages, parole, participation in educational programs, basically to be treated as a human being. All while dissipating any accountability for bad and biased decisions because the algorithm made them. AI will make it all worse.

       @Wolven So now we have (1) fake books by fake authors; (2) fake books falsely attributed to real authors; how long before (3) fake books falsely attributed to real authors, with fake publication dates falsely implying they predate LLMs?

       @MisuseCase Yep. Was talking about that, too. But when I first saw this, I knew that someone was going to ask one of these things a question about food or medical advice, not understanding how they work and what they actually do, and end up doing something that would get them killed. :\
