@nikodunk @nekohayo @jimmac there's a lot of very expensive hardware and software that directly supports oil and gas exploration/extraction. We should probably try to not support development of that stuff, work for companies involved, refuse to sell services used for it, and so on.

@craftyguy @nekohayo @jimmac agreed! That’s the _not_ do part. But what _can_ we build to help the climate turnaround effort? Same as we dont support closed source, instead we _do_ build open source stuff ya know? There must be something vs just withholding from the bad

@nikodunk @nekohayo @jimmac - Do consider the energy usage of the apps you create. Some frameworks, databases, whatever may make development easier, but they shouldn't require a lot of hardware resources / energy to work properly.- Do consider the energy usage of your development workflows. Triggering that CI/CD needlessly is a waste of energy, and so is leaving your hardware on when you aren't using it.
