@IdahoLark I'm curious whether you, as a former Alaskan, are a fan of Dana Stabenow. I just recently started rereading all of her Kate Shugak novels. #books

@GiddingsMJ I think I only ever read one of her books, so I can't call myself a fan. Not sure why it didn't click with me, as I enjoyed other mystery series back then.

@IdahoLark Are there some Alaskan native authors I should check out?

@GiddingsMJ Sad to say I can only think of one: Velma Wallace wrote such lovely short stories, especially Two Old Women. Don Reardon--not sure if he is Native? Love his writing. The Raven's Gift was so haunting and well-written.

@GiddingsMJ There are so many excellent non-Native Alaska writers. Eowen Ivy, Seth Kanter and Nick Jans come to mind. Margaret Murie's "Two in the Far North" convinced me I HAD to move to Alaska.
