I think the idea of "users in militia-mode will each have a textfile of weakly-secure passphrases" is the exact kind of idea that would mostly work in practice, but which would be unilaterally slammed as "insecure" by crypto tech nerd journalist types. Like if you're being singularly targeted by the NSA and/or the 95% of hacker-culture that is just people going "notice me NSA-senpai", there will be little difference between a social web-of-trust and a cryptographic web-of-trust in practice

I could still probably figure out a way to make this somewhat more secure with some simple cryptography on top of it though... ough... this will require the most annoying research you can possibly imagine

As you can probably imagine, subjects related to "peer-to-peer cryptography" have been rendered almost impossible to search for thanks to blockchain bullshit, and even then when you do find something relevant it's mostly just someone going "here are the equations, and if you don't understand how to use them you should go work at McDonalds"

I'm *pretty sure* that a user who wants to re-verify their new IP-address *could* send a militia-mode-user a one-time passphrase, which would then be compared against the militia-user's list of random strings and their hashed results, and if that passphrase is indeed the salt that turns a given string into its hash, then that IP-address gets verified in the militia-user's allowlist, and the verification attempt's passphrase entry gets deletedBut I need to make *sure* that it would be secure in the way I'm intuiting; and so I've gotta try to figure out how to research this shit

I've found an at least slightly legit-looking SHA512 library implemented in pure Lua. Hmmm...

Like I'm working under the assumption that the NSA has preemptively poked holes in all this shit anyway. So the social aspects of user-verification will still be more important than the technical aspects of user-verification. But the technical aspects might deter Hans Stuttgart from compromising the network as a resume-building exercise

(Even without any cryptographic shadow-puppetry, he'd still have to crack a plurality of militia-users' phones simultaneously, of course)

(And the worst that could happen in such a total-compromise situation is everyone's allowlists get polluted, and they have to re-coordinate through backchannels)

(Which would be a DISASTER if you were, you know, planning to manufacture drugs or overthrow the government with bombs and guns or whatever. But you shouldn't be talking about that shit on the internet anyway! You should be putting your phones and laptops in the refrigerator, walking into the bathroom, and turning on the shower before you talk about that shit)

If you are planning to talk to someone about concrete plans and actions to violently overthrow the bourgeois government, here's what you need to do:1. Put both of your phones and laptops in the refrigerator (along with any smart TVs, IOT appliances, and so on)2. Go into the bathroom3. Turn on the shower4. Start making out

(I'm not Satoshi Nakamoto btw. But I'm pretty sure I know who is, and his technically-still-revivificatable corpse has been in an Alcor tube for a decade)
