Equal parts neat and creepy: neuroscientists analyzed the brain activity of 29 volunteers while they listened to a song, then assembled the "auditory spectrograms" into a recognizable reproduction of what the patients had heard. Even some of the vocals were clear.The good news, for now this can only be accomplished by wiring electrodes directly to one's brain meat, so it's difficult to imagine this as a passive attack. The full study is published in PLOS Biology. I don't know anything about neuroscience, auditory spectrograms, or brains, so I wouldn't recognize BS in those realms; perhaps the article is all a load of steaming pudding, and how can you have any pudding if you don't eat your meat?https://journals.plos.org/plosbiology/article?id=10.1371/journal.pbio.3002176

@shaun This stuff freaks me out because the logical end of this is to control the human brain, which we hopefully see what might happen if it's in the wrong hands. On the other hand, it's Pink Floyd, so all is forgiven.

@WillA763 Yeah, my first thought upon reading the article was "how long before Elon or Peter Thiel buys up the patents?" Abuse of this tech is inevitable, the only hope is that it takes a very long time to mature.
