       @zakalwe @Lazarou @cstross @flippac @willknott I lived in Omagh during the troubles as a child of a UK military man. I would have been 6/7 (c76) years old when the barracks in Omagh was bombed by the IRA using a child my age to plant the device. There was a swimming pool open to children attached to the officers mess, that's how they got in. My father lost his best friend in the attack. I have even more despicable stories too

       @dammitjanet @zakalwe @Lazarou @cstross @flippac @willknott Are you sure? I grew up in Omagh and had no recollection of the barracks having been attacked, and https://cain.ulster.ac.uk/sutton/search.html doesn't have any deaths in Omagh during that timeframe.

       @mjg59 @zakalwe @Lazarou @cstross @flippac @willknott I'm pretty sure of the overall timeframe. We were in Germany until 74, and we left in late 76 by my memory. I have vivid memories of the aftermath and the increased security in and around the base afterwards but not of the day or time of year. I was told of the deaths by my parents at the time but I can't find records either

       @mjg59 @zakalwe @Lazarou @cstross @flippac @willknott research has confirmed the date range, during 74/76 15th/19th Kings Royal Hussars were stationed at Lisanelly Barracks. I've even found where we used to live in the SW corner near what I think was a live fire range.  The kids would hunt for brass and my dad would practice his golf swing there
