       it's always mildly infuriating to watch computer programmers misunderstand how PC audio works because they have never looked at a block diagram of the internals of a sound card, nor have they ever used any professional audio software or equipment to give them an idea of what a good audio workflow looks like. audio code is a bit of a specialist subfield and i'm tempted to say it's best left to the experts, because shitty audio software is far too common.

       sign that a piece of audio software is designed for amateurs: the volume sliders go from 0 to 100.red flag that it was designed *by* amateurs: when the volume set to 50%, the audio amplitude is 50% and setting low volumes is difficult, because they failed to use a logarithmic scale for the slider.
