@brewsterkahle It's all so depressing. For so, so long I looked forward to a world without money (no bartering either) where people simply go to the supermarket and take what is needed, and where value lies in what you do for society. Everyone is at the same level, no one is 'rich' or 'poor' and people are rewarded with benefits instead of money. This would relax society so much. I am afraid this life-long dream won't pan out since I don't know how long I have left, it would have been beautiful.

@brewsterkahle I live in Newton MA, an affluent, educated, liberal suburb of Boston with a great public libraryexcept the librarians keep throwing out "discarding" wonderful books with the total BS excuse of "shelf space"I've said this many time on twitter and not once has a librarian agreed with mealso, Newton closed all the branch libraries, so now you need a car to get to the library

@failedLyndonLaRouchite I feel for the librarians with limited shelf space. The Internet Archive's physical and digital collections do not have this problem-- libraries and people donate books all the time-- we want one copy of every book ever published to preserve and make as available as possible.try the Donate Books app on your phone to find out if we have that one already.Of course the publishers sue libraries, but we have to stand strong.https://Archive.org/donate

@failedLyndonLaRouchite The problem with this approach is usually this: you either treat your readers as the one who pays your bills or as cattle to show ads to, I'm not sure about NYT, but a lot of media outlets try to do both to make subscription affordable. Being the source of income AND the product they sell to their other customers at the same time makes you wonder — whether you should really trust them, maybe they are both bullshitting you and taking your money 🤔@lutoma @brewsterkahle
