What is up with this common theme from so many religious men in my life, where they claim to be the "head of household" all while not providing for their wife and child/children. Like dude, if you're gonna talk the talk, walk the walk. SO MANY of them lately. Countless examples. Your wife and children are on foodstamps, you live in a tiny place, and you refuse to go out and actually provide. You can't just use the label and not live up to it 🙄

I’ve made jokes to the effect of “would you like to join my Mormon harem?” to women both IRL and online, and while it was completely tongue-in-cheek, I could see a little flicker in their idea that they’d seriously consider it. Being a concubine to comfy, staid Mormon man who grants unrestricted access to food, makes da babies, and doesn’t raise voice or hit in rural nowhere seems like a really good offer these days to a lot of women. @FourOh-LLC I've been on spinster since June 2020, but awhile back I made an account on another instance and realized how disconnected spinster is from the rest of the fedi. I'm pretty lighthearted on here though even with my "rant" posts, mainly because when I'm actually angry about something I talk to my husband about it. That may confuse people who use the fediverse to talk about things more seriously. I've just noticed sometimes people see the "spinster" on my profile and automatically attack what I'm saying because they think I'm one way, with one worldview, that they've lumped a lot of us on here with. So apologies if I assumed that of you and it wasn't the case. It's neat what you do, thanks for explaining all of that. I hope it continues to be a success and you continue enjoying it. @teratology @FourOh-LLC Housewives and stay at home moms do so much. The way I see it, if you can make money off their job (nanny or maid or cook, etc.) Then it's a job. In a relationship with traditional roles highlighted, the most healthy way to view it imo is both roles are difficult and equal. Marriage is a partnership and both are the head partnership leading their families. Each one does a different part to contributing to the family.

@brimshae @FourOh-LLC Discussion like this is fine. Randomly commenting on a post with assumptions and ignoring the point of the post to fit their agenda seems pointless to me. But if someone of these fedi guys have that much time on their hands, I can't really stop them. On your second point, I agree men need good role models. And I agree there's been negative propaganda fed to them too. But there needs to be accountability from these men as well. Especially for the fact that they're in church, there are many good men to learn from in those environments AND in the content they're learning about.
