       Today marks fifty years since DJ Kool Herc's first party at 1520 Sedgwick Avenue in the Bronx - widely credited as the kickstart for Hip-Hop.        @airadam Hip-hop was as much science fiction future music as what was happening in the electronic labs of Sheffield and Düsseldorf.Intonarumori-style use of turntables and mixers as instruments? Hot-wiring power from lamp-posts? Robotic dancing? Musique concrète breaks and scratching?As intellectual and avant as anything in the fifty years prior, with the bonus of being not stuffy. And from there it went in every direction.
