To resist #Google 's web-breaking #WEI, I put up https://rumores.eu/wei. There's a snippet for your site to gently nudge your visitors to use a different browser if theirs is infected with WEI. That is, it replaces the whole page with an informative message, hehe.:boost_requested:

@jsAh! I missed that one.@midgard - you may want to remove the brave mention, as far as I am concerned, it is just as bad as Google.

@jtb @js @midgard To cut a long story short, Brave "protects" you from advertisers in order to better resale your personal information to THEIR advertisers.Just do a search on "do not use the brave browser" and see for yourself (the following is one of the top results):https://www.kevinmuldoon.com/do-not-use-brave-browser/

Firefox also ships with DRM, Google as default search engine, promoting sites such as Facebook, it's just trying to copy Chrome these days, and also in other ways Mozilla is doing questionable things.I'd very much like to find a #FreeSoftware #browser that I can switch to and recommend …

@ParadeGrotesque @js @midgard Mozilla makes its money mostly from search partnerships. Outside the USA its search partner is Google. You can change the search engine of course, but then you can switch off Brave's crypto ad thingy too.

@js @midgard @jtb Disagree: Google will always renew the deal, since having Firefox as a fig leaf allows Google to avoid monopoly lawsuits. They have learned from Microsoft issues with Internet Explorer and the EU and US lawsuits. What Firefox does with all that Google money is the real issue.
