Boss of the Twitter cartel announced they are gonna pay “legal bills for people who got in trouble with their employer because of what they did on Twitter”This is another action from the cartel leader that indicates that you can just ‘do whatever you want’ without consequences on the platform but this gives out the completely wrong messageInstead of supporting such behavior it would be a better idea to let people think before they post something onlineActions do have consequences

@stux Compare this with the story on the the Trump electors in PA, who were told they would receive “indemnification by the campaign if someone gets sued or worse.”https://wapo.st/3DJqkb9

@stux The boss of Twitter is an attention hound who doesn't pay his rent or severance bills. Why should we believe he will pay legal fees - except a select few when he thinks it will get press attention?

@stux Elon Musk has fired people for their Twitter behavior, and has tried to stop an anti-hate group with a slapp lawsuit. Guy doesn't care about free speech, and he can't afford to pay his own bills, let alone anybody else's.

@stux really clear that he WANTS his platform to be a nexus of hate and disinfo. You don't waive a flag like that for any other reason than to signal that you want the worst people doing the worst stuff.

@stux You don't think they're REALLY gonna pay anyone's legal bills, do you? They aren't paying their OWN bills.

@stux it all depends. Twitter is a worldwide platform, each place in the world has its own norms. So, I can easily see how, let's say, American leftists get triggered by a post that somehow ain't favorable for them. Technically, nobody asked them or invited them, but they almost 100% will exploit it in their own favor. Thus, it's not that easy to regulate someone else's speech

@stux Paying for the lawyers doesn't mean they'll win. This is no different than the mob boss saying he'll pay for fancier guns. You're still a peon.

@stux You heard the story of the woman who worked in us gov, got pregnant from her married boss, informed employer, got frozen out, complained on Twitter and then was sued, 10 days after C-section, for 1.5 million dollars because the news of here pregnancy was supposed to fall under here work NDA ?I'd love to hear big X talk himself out of supporting that one.https://twitter.com/AJDelgado13/status/1688164451743092736

@stux What makes it most terrifying (in my mind) is that the offer was put forth with Chief Weasel's interpretation of unjustified persecution. Basically, this offer would open himself up for a legal challenge because the way he fired people who worked for Twitter that said critical things about him, but given that he owns the threshold, it's clearly an effort to punish companies he doesn't like, and protect himself at the same time. "I will be your avenging angel, all you have to do is pledge your soul to me."

@stux Musk is a shit-poster. He's convinced shit-posting is covered by freedom of speech laws. So yeah, he most certainly thinks actions shouldn't have any consequences.

@mayonesa No, it isn't. >The First Amendment provides that Congress make no law respecting an establishment of religion or prohibiting its free exercise. It protects freedom of speech, the press, assembly, and the right to petition the Government for a redress of grievances. The 1st Amendment only protects you from *Government* consequences, not consequences in general. I should have clarified that point.@stux

@stux you are indeed correct about actions having consequences UNLESS you a a billionaire (ie Musk/Trump) who can afford to buy a global influence platform to build your own cult following and or utilize a corruptible judicial system to avoid accountability by paying mercenary lawyers or even appointing judges! Shocking is it not?
