       In the 2020s, is colorful (blue, pink, purple, etc.) hair a political statement?I assume that most colorful-haired people are woke, but is that incorrect or, perhaps, just a coincidence?It kind of seems like the “Hate Has No Home Here” of hair, but I might be wrong.

       @kj00 Maybe one or two?  For most people, though, are they going down to the hairdresser (or buying the dye) with the purpose of joining a political club?  In the past, subcultures were music based but included hairstyles.  Now that subcultures are politics-based, do we have hairstyles for that?

       @Cousin_Isobel I don't think dying your hair can be considered a "subculture" anymore like how colorful streaks and fluffy manes were emo in the 2000s, because what's the "default" culture anyway? Punk hair is alternative when society expects you to dress a certain way, but that society doesn't exist anymore. The list of acceptable styles and clothes to wear has grown over time. Just about anyone gets to dye their hair in unnatural colors now, because they're acceptable and available.Meanwhile in Japan, light brown hair is considered a fashion statement.

       @Cousin_Isobel I make the same assumptions. Maybe this is judgmental but oh well, I don’t have time for that nonsense so if you align with it with your hair color, then that’s just an unfortunate consequence.

       @I_XXist I love purple, and I thought a few colored streaks were pretty before so many people were doing it.  In my woke town, it’s half the people in the grocery store.
