#poll #notion or #obsidian for productive and tasks tracking?

@kopio @EpiphanicSynchronicity Neither work particularly well for tasks AFAIC. I use Trello with a custom workflow which allows me to get tasks in quick.

@dhrystone @kopio #Obsidian works well for me for tasks, but I don’t claim to be a typical case. I bought Things 3 for Mac and iOS years ago and even though it’s well-designed, it never clicked for me, and neither did Asana before that. For tasks and projects, I actually preferred Logseq to anything else I’ve tried, but ended up consolidating on Obsidian because it’s my favorite tool for everything else I need and want a #PKM app to do.

@EpiphanicSynchronicity @kopio The big problem for me is that I absolutely need something with push notifications/reminders when something comes due. Is there a plugin for Obsidian that does that? Without that functionality I have to remember to proactively return to look at whether something is due, or overdue, and for the hectic pace of crap I deal with every day it’s just mandatory.

@dhrystone @kopio There’s the Reminder plugin, but on iOS ( and iirc Android) the notifications only appear when you have Obsidian open, so it’s probably not going to be a good solution for you.

@EpiphanicSynchronicity @kopio Hard pass. I got a workable solution already (after god knows how many years and possibly about thirty different task systems tested and walked away from - not exaggerating!)Obsidian’s task layout and this and that *looks* nice. Especially the aggregation page you can build with the Tasks plugin that sucks in and displays tasks from every checkboxed line in your entire vault. Just needs to ring-a-ding when something’s about to go code red. Would be an absolute killer feature IMO.

@dhrystone @kopio Yep, it’s very much a personal thing, and you’ve gotta go with whatever works best for your brain and the kinds of things you need to do.

@EpiphanicSynchronicity @dhrystone @kopio I use Apple Reminders for the (few) things for which I really need a notification. For the bulk of my tasks I see a lot of value to have them side by side with other project related stuff. Which means Obsidian.
