They cut back a lot of the stuff I could take which was over the counter like Ibuprofen and exederin. Ice packs help and I also use lidocaine patches (FYI if you ever fuck up a rib those patches are amazing at helping take the edge off).

It's kind of funny actually. I know you gave up teaching but ultimately you have been a great teacher, maybe a more effective one than you would have been in a school. Even now, the lessons about facing the end with dignity and a chuckle? That's good stuff. The people I've lost in my life didn't realize teach those around them anything on their way out the door.
