@BrodieOnLinux the api itself isn't bad or good and the people freaking out are useful idiots. google has full regulatory capture of the FTC in the usa and that is why they are able to do whatever they want as long as the usa still has internet.

@BrodieOnLinux I’d hope brave, vivaldi, firefox, … would never implement it, but when, for example, youtube requires it, they’ll cave sadly

@skylab That's why it can't really be solved at the browser level unless Google caves, possibly if Safari says no this won't happen but nothing Firefox, Brave or Vivaldi do will help if this actually gets implemented

@BrodieOnLinux I’ve been helping my friends/family switch to Firefox at the bare minimum, if not de-Google completely.I think a drop in Chrome usage & losing users is the only thing that will get them to listen and walk this back.

@BrodieOnLinux I don't have much hope in the UK gov doing anything about it (though I've submitted an antitrust report anyway) so I'm banking on the EU being the ones to do something about it.

@BrodieOnLinux @skylab Firefox, Brave and Vivaldi already said they won't implement it. The ball is in Apple's court, their decision *may* be the final blow. But of course, even if this API gets accepted, websites have to use them, and I dont think any sane one developer will.
