Lmao, Ubisoft finally sets an Assassin's Creed game in Japan and not only is the protagonist a Samurai (even though a Ninja would fit the aesthetic 100 times better) but he's also a black guy because Ubi managed to find the one black guy who managed to become a samurai. Expect the game to center on how racist Japan is, and be completely DOA.

Like really Ubisoft, you had the ball tee'd up for you, just make the protagonist either some vengeful Japanese guy or make it an attractive Japanese woman. Or both, do another syndicate and you'd have a smash hit but no, you had to choose the Yasuke, a dude who was basically the Samurai equivalent of a golf caddie

@Arkana @Shadowman311 @Some_German_Guy He was a real person, but he was a court pet and not a samurai. He was a Portuguese slave bought by Nobunaga who used him to entertain guests. When Nobunaga was betrayed, and then the betrayer was defeated, Yasuke fell into the hands of Nobunaga's successor. At first they wanted to execute him because he should have died with his master, but then they decided he was actually an animal and not a person so they gave him to a Christian missionary. That is basically the entire story.

He’s just there to earn a paycheck as a military advisor to the new Meiji government.When he is defeated by the holdout samurai and subsequently spends a year in their community, he learns about them and he is so enthralled with their ways and determination, he too joins their cause.Just like you said, they give him a reason to fight. And we the audience get to see and learn what Cruise’s character learns. It’s a good way to construct a narrative set in Japan but for an American audience.So it’s not a White savior story, it’s just a story about Japan in the 1870s from a White man’s perspective. Anyone who says otherwise is dumb and/or they just hate seeing White protagonists (and are probably a nigger or a kike).
